If you like things simple, you are going to love the minimal treatment of brand new Australian artist Yates. Releasing his debut EP Mercury on 4th March, the now Berlin-based musician is all about the voice as his incredibly soft and surprisingly high vocals to do all the talking on lead single of the same name. Airy and with the tiniest hint of vibrato, 'Mercury' is full of subtlety and controlled emotion. As the bare electronics wash in and wash out, the effect is both calming and entrancing. With Mercury being the first of what Yates is calling musical "chapters", we're in no doubt he's going to produce many aural page turners. - SJ
